CTA subway from Midway Airport?

Planning a quick trip to Chicago - Do many people use the CTA orange line from Midway airport to downtown (heading to Michigan & Wacker)? I'm comfortable using subways/trains in other locations, but I just haven't heard of many people using the trains from the airport in Chicago. Any advice is appreciated!

Perfectly safe...I use to take the trains and buses around Chicago when I was younger and had no car...Right now they really improved safety for customers with higher security systems and security..They also have security cameras on the trains and at train stops outside the trains...Since you are going downtown there should be extra security there..No where you go is 100% safe...So go at your own risk...If you still not comfortable going on the train after reading this, you might be better off calling you a ride to come pick you up...Good Luck and be safe. yes, it's in a safe location. The Orange line is the newwest "L" in chicago. FYI it's not a subway the train is above the city. It's a lot cheaper than taking a cab.
People use the Orange Line from Midway and the Blue Line from O'Hare CONSTANTLY. It's always in use with people going too and from the airports. It's cheaper than driving (forget the high gas prices and parking fees; pay the $2 for the train and get it over with) and many times faster than driving (while cars are backed up on the expressway to the airport, the train is whizzing by). And both go from the airport to downtown Chicago where you can change to any other train or bus to get to any other part of the city. Trust me, it's one of the few things this city has done right!
All the time. It's by far the easiest, cheapest, and most convenient way to get to and from downtown and Midway, and there's people on it all day and night.
I've used it many times. Lots of people use it..students, locals, business travel dudes, tourists.. a bit of everything.
And its safe dont worry.

Its a great way to get to and from downtown...like Man said, its way better than sitting on the Stevenson Exprswy in traffic.
