Travel Info our hotel is by midway, how easy is it to catch a cab to the hotel?, I have my routes set up to take the train from union station to midway cta , but then there is still about 5 miles to go before the hotel -just cab it? Travel Tips It is incredibly easy to get a cab in Chicago, especially in a busy area like Midway. But, if you really want to get to know Chicago and you're a little adventurous, take the El. To get downtown, you take the Orange line. You can then transfer to the Red line at Roosevelt. Make sure you're headed north, towards Howard. From there, you can get off wherever you want. Stops like Lake, Washington, Monroe, and Jackson are along State St. If you want to hit the North Loop and shop on Michigan Ave, get off at Chicago or Grand. Or you can just stay on the Orange line, transfer to the Brown line, etc. They all run through the Loop. They just run along different streets and in different directions. Some are above ground, some are below. It may sound a little overwhelming, and for a first timer, it kind of is. But there is no better way to get a real feel for Chicago, in my opinion. Its a great city. I hope you enjoy it! Source(s): I've lived in Chicago for a long time now and am a frequent CTA rider.
