Does anyone know any small venues/cafes in chicago? |
Travel Info my friend is heading to Chicago with his band and they need a place to play at, but not too big. anyone know any small venues or cafes ? Travel Tips You don't say what kind of music they play. That might make a difference. But there are places they can contact. Try The Red Line Tap (http://www.heartlandcafe.com/rl_index.ht... Located in Rogers Park. They feature all kinds of music there: punk, bluegrass, acoustic, etc. It's a bar with a stage around one side of the room and you can probably get about 60 people in there. You can also try and contact a bar called Weeds. It's located at 1555 N. Dayton. Not sure of the phone number, but if you contact information and get it. Weeds has had bands playing every night of the week except Monday (poetry night) and Sunday (closed). They also have a few open mike nights, so if nothing else happens, tell your band friends to just show up, sign up and play. Not to knock the other answers, but a lot of the bigger places like Double Door and Schubas feature national big name acts and do their booking through agencies. I doubt seriously if you friends can just pop into Chicago on a Monday and get a slot at those places on a Thursday. Others Uncommon Ground Double Door Big Horse Lounge The Waiting Room Good luck! the beat kitchen subterranean double door the cubby bear the metro schubas there are so many places... lots of bars have open mic nites too if thats something your interested in as well! Pontiac Cafe in Wicker Park ask for BUD. |
