Chicago Expressway question?

Chicago Edens Expwy, (I-94) Question...

Every time I listen to traffic on the radio, I hear what seems like every other expressway travel time, except for the I-94 portion north of the spur, (Deerfield Rd and the stretch of road North of that. Is there another name that it is called on the news, (specifically WBBM radio)

That part of I-94 is considered the Tri-State Tollway. I know on WGN when they give travel times and where its backed up, they will refer to the whole of the Tri-State from the south end to the north end...so an example would be slow Lake-Cook Road to 22 or from the Lake Forest Oasis to 176....I also do hear them refer to the Spur as the Edens Spur Ramp when going Southbound. I agree that section is often neglected. It probably won't be when Great America gets into full swing.

Try the two 24 hr AM traffic channels. 530 AM and 1610 AM. It's a robotic taped loop but it's updated every 5 min. Accurate travel times and ramp closures are mentioned. Add them to the memory of 2 of the unused AM buttons on your radio presets. These frequencies are used all over the country for various traffic, weather or public info alerts.

WGN...720AM also has traffic during rush hrs, 4x per hour. Because it's a talk radio format, the traffic usually is around news time...X:00, X:15, X:30, X:45.

Another alternative...from the 1970s...is CB radio...channel 19.

The portion of I-94 north of the spur is referred to as part of the Tri-State Tollway. It's been a long while, but I used to hear about stuff up there all the time, esp around Half Day Road, and Great America delays in the summer around Grand Ave.
