What is the econimical way to get from cincinnati to chicago? |
Travel Info this is a group of 10 traveling Travel Tips Rent a 15 passenger van, and then all go together to cover the cost of the van and gas. A number of places rent these, so its very doable, and will give you a lot more flexibility in Chicago than taking the bus will. Others Walking...LOL Greyhound and Amtrack offer specials all the time...I'd start there. But really w/ a group that large, I'd also look to rent a passenger van from Hertz or Alamo, etc....and drive the <300 miles...You'd only need the vehicle for 1 day...and even w/ gas prices so high you'll still come out ahead. Good Luck! Try Megabus (http://www.megabus.com/us/index.php).... It's a new VERY low cost bus service in the midwest. Depending on how early in advance you book, you can ride to Chicago for ONE DOLLAR! Seriously. I did a sample ticket purchase for Cincinnatti for July 16 and returning to Cincy on July 20 and it was $1 to get to Chicago if you leave at 1:25 a.m., and $8 if you leave at 10 a.m. The return trip was $8 no matter what time you leave. (That was the price for one passenger) The thing is you can only order a ticket on line. There are no Megabus bus depots. Here in Chicago they stop at regular CTA stops at designated times so you have to be at a particular bus stop and wait for it to arrive. Not sure how it works in Cincy but I'm guessing it works the same way. As far as details about the ride (how long it takes, does it make stops along the way), you'll have to find that out yourself. But you have to admit, you can't beat the price. |
