What is a good park to take kids to in Chicago,Illinois? |
Travel Info When we go to Chicago around July 3 I want to take the kids to the park what do you suggest? Travel Tips Since you're planning on going July 3, most of the popular parks will be very busy (holiday weekend) so expect big crowds. I'd suggest Lincoln Park zoo, but because it's the holiday weekend, it will probaby be packed. The kids might have trouble seeing all the animals because of the crowds, but if you think it will be ok, go for it. I'd also suggest the Garfield Park conservatory on the near west side. It's very easy to get to (take the Green Line train from downtown) and it might not be as busy as the zoo. There are a bunch of pretty cool plants to check out, from giant palm trees that reach the ceiling of the conservatory to tiny cactus plants. There's a big open park behind the building and there's currently an art exhibition called "Niki in the Park" with giant colorful sculptures, with a few of them that kids are encourage to climb on. You could pack a picnic lunch and sit out in the park behind the conservatory. In addition, there's a market place connected that is open on the weekends. There should be a band playing. Other Travel Tips I suggest leaving Chicago and taking them somewhere like Yellowstone. a park? i suggest going to american girl if u have girls or a sox or cubs game for boys. starburd park on 9th Millenium Park downtown chicago!
