Sights and things to see when travelling by car from Toronto to Chicago via Sarnia? |
Travel Info Hi, Can anyone suggest a list of sights / tourist attractions etc that can be seen when driving from Toronto to Chicago? The route is as follows : http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp... Links to websites that have this info would also be good ! Thanks. Travel Tips Kalamazoo, MI has an aerospace museum. Michigan City, IN has the Indiana Dunes. Others yes ! yes!...the dunes ! This is minutes outside of Sarnia in a town called Petrolia "It's just a fact that most people have absolutely no idea about the REAL origin of the oil industry - which, incidentally, began in a little section of Southwestern Ontario known today as Oil Heritage District." Admission Adult....$ 5.00 Senior...$ 4.00 Children.$ 4.00 Family...$ 12.00 http://www.petroliadiscovery.com/... location: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=... Hamilton, Ontario - Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum http://secure.warplane.com/index.html... Dundurn Castle - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/dundurn_cas... Oh honey...just drive. Michigan has alot of beautiful things to see but why stop? From Sarnia, which crosses into Port Huron Michigan, it'll take you about 6 hours to get to Chicago. Just roll with it! If you are a smoker, be sure to stop in Indiana...cheap smokes! Avoid going through Chicago during rush hour because that will add about an hour (plus) to the drive time. I checked your driving plan...and I think taking the 401 into Windsor is probably a better bet. You will cross over into Detroit. Get onto I-75 north (turn right onto Jefferson Ave. once you leave the tunnel) and exit at I-94 west...take I-94 into Indiana and take the tollway (I-90). It will cost about 3.50 through the toll way (2 stops of 35 cents and one of $2.50). The tollway cuts travel time down by about 45 minutes and takes you right into Chicago. |
