Chicago cicada problem.....?

So we are lucky enough to have year 17 for cycadas. I just got here I get covered every time I leave the house!!!! How long will they be around? All summer or just a few weeks? I'm visiting family here and I just can't seem to leave the house because of them.

They should all be gone come the end of June.
If I remember right (I was there for the last go-round) it's only a couple/three weeks, so by mid-July you should be okay.

But man, is it a pain until they're gone...
Are you in the western suburbs? I am in the city and have not seen or heard a single cicada! ;-(

Cristelle: I was asking because I thought I heard or read in the news that the cicadas were coming out in the western suburbs first.

I like cicadas. I'm sad I don't hear them in the city.

i live in the western suburbs on the fox river and i have yet to see a one?? why?
theyre mostly in places like orland park and palos. you'll hear a million
