Where can I park for free over the weekend just outside of Chicago? |
Travel Info My family is visiting downtown chicago for a long weekend - but we are all driving in separate cars. Is there a place outside of the city where we can keep all but one of the cars parked for the weekend? We're all coming from the east, so something near the Indiana / Illinois border would be ideal. Thanks for your help! Travel Tips How about a tollway oasis? Others how about the hotel you are staying at? if you can get street parking meters are free on weekends, but as another poster wrote that would also be closer to the greek town area. There are tons of parking spaces in or near the Loop where you can park for a weekend for way less than $30 a day, especially on the weekend when they are in less demand. Try looking at place near Greektown on Halsted street which is just on the west side of the Loop, or the area around Union Station. Even during the week, when commuters are parking there for work, many of them only charge $15 a day. On the weekends, I've seen all-day parking for $8 a day. Check the website below. It has all of the parking spaces in the loop. It doesn't list prices, but has the phone numbers of the individuals companies that manage the sports. I'm pretty sure that you can find cheap parking for the weekend, much cheaper than $30 a day. Besides, Chicago is a HUGE city and when you're talking "just outside of Chicago", you're talking about traveling 10 miles or more to get back to your car. http://www.chicagoparkingmap.com/index.j... You can always park your car next to a park. It's free, and there's plenty of space available. |
