Michigan ave seems to be so expensive. Is there any cheaper places? |
Travel Info I want to find cheaper places to shop in Chicago, but still safe. :) Is there any other places to shop where we can find reasonable prices and good sales? We will be staying on wacker drive/michigan ave. Travel Tips Maxwell Street Others I would try the area around State and Washington. The big Macy's is there, along with lots of other stores. And it's really close to where you are staying. I usually shop in this area when I go downtown. While Maxwell is nice, it's an outdoor produce/flea market type of thing. Have fun! Kankakee, but is it worth it? try walking down to the south side of downtown. Like the other poster said near state street. There are a few places downthere. There's an H&M, Marshalls and Filene's Basement on State street near Randolph (There's also an H& M on Michigan Ave. across the street from Water Tower Place). There's also an Old navy, which is pretty cheap. But if I were you, I'd look into traveling away from Michigan ave. Public transportation is pretty easy and safe in the day time. Take a ride up to the Clark Street and Belmont area. You'll find another Marshall's as well as places like Ragstock. There are lots of bargain places in Chicago, but you have to get away from Michigan Ave to find them. The area around Halsted and Dickens has some cheaper, and really cute stores like Lucky Brand, Betsey Johnson, Bebe, Fox's, BCBG, etc. Also, along Clark streets around where it meets with Belden and around that area. Good luck! try state street south west of michigan mag mile. |
