Travel Info My fiancee and I are going to Chicago for our honeymoon. Where are some really good places to visit and eat? Travel Tips I went to Chicago for my honeymoon too! We stayed at the Embassy Suites on the near north side. Hard Rock Cafe, Rock n Roll McDonalds, Ed Debevicks, Walter Peyton's restaurant, Michael Jordan's restaurant, Planet Hollywood, Michigan Ave. and shopping and a carriage ride, Capone's museum (it's fun, really!), are within walking distance. There is (or was?) a great Greek restaurant in the Embassy Suites. For cab rides we went to the Sears Tower, and then to Second City Theater. You have to go to Second City. It's an improv place and I laughed so hard that tears ran down my face! Have a lot of fun! *wink* Others in your hotel room The Grand Lux Cafe has really good food. Navy Pier is a great time. I agree in your hotel.....try the Grand Lux Cafe, Lawry's, Sigurature room in the Hancock Building, Tarven on Rush, Catch 35, Morton's, Keefer's, Ruth Kris, and Magginos Museum of Science and Industry. Shedd Aquarium. Art Institute. Field Museum of Natural History John Hancock Center - great for picture taking Water Tower Place, for shopping Navy Pier Dinner Cruise - Odyssey Gino's East for pizza Lawry's Prime Rib restaurant Go to the Signature Room-it's pricey but if wonderful. Also try Japonais, Sushi Samba Rio, Tavern on Rush, Gibson's, Maggiano's, Lawry's Prime Rib, Shaw's Crab House. There are a lot of museums and they are all great! Hit the bars and restaurants around Wrigleyville. Not as pricey as most of the other places name, but a great atmosphere, particularly on game days, Lots of bars with the huge windows open, lots of TV tuned to sports, lots of people, music at night. And since there are so many bars and restaruants, they are in competition for your dollar so there are ALWAYS drink and food specials. You can have a great time with a little money. Even if the Cubs are out of town, there's still a lot to do there. There's the IO, an improv venue with inexpensive shows ($5-$10) that are sometimes pretty funny. There's a few places with live music like the Wild Hare (a reggae bar) or the Metro (mostly rock and punk but the music can vary). There are places to have breakfast and places to have dinner. For your tourist dollar, you can get more bang for your buck than at the fancy, expensive places. |
