Taste tickets in Chicago, IL? |
Travel Info Taste tickets in Chicago, IL? Travel Tips This year tickets will be $7 for a book of 11 tickets. Most people I know will use up about three books each. Food samplers are three or four tickets and drinks are often two tickets each. Dominick's sells a book for $5.50 if you buy in advance. I don't know about other Safeway chains. Others I believe the only tickets you have to buy if for food and drinks. Everything else is free. Check this website out for more info. http://egov.cityofchicago.org/city/webpo... I live here There is no admittance fee, everything is out in the open and anyone can walk thru. You buy food (sample from Chicago Vendors who want you to taste their food and hopefully visit their restaurants) Serving sizes are usually nice and there is quite a variety, from stuffed artichoke to jerk chicken. Also, drinks (sodas, beer etc) are to be bought. There are live bands (some popular some not) that come on later in the day and I believe you pay for most of those. They don't have games and things but they have raffles and many tents are Chicago business giving away things like tote bags, water bottles and such to advertise their business. Its fun, but it gets hot, it is very crowded and it can get messy because there are alot of festival goers that won't throw their garbage away where they should. It can get alittle too much for kids especially the young ones. I have seen many a 6 year old get an elbow in the eye from crowds just closing in on each other. Fourth of July is sometimes nice as they have rides and about 8:30 they have fireworks. Some people rent time on one of the Navy Pier yahts to see the fireworks from the lake. |
