A question for those who are from Chicago?

Travel Info
Well I am from Europe and I am interested how does it feels to live in Chicago, I mean when you live there for few years, do you still find those high skyscrapers interesting and are you still impressed with them? Thanks Chicagoans = )

Travel Tips
I live furthest from the Downtown area but I work and have worked most of my life in Downtown.

I am usually so busy with my daily routine that I don't really notice much.

But I do stop every once in awhile and realize what a magnificent a city I am living in.

You just have to go a few miles in any direction (save the lake) and see the beautiful buildings that have been constructed by some of the most prestigious Architects our history has to offer. Meese Van Derough(sorry sp), Bertram Goldberg who is responsible for the round apartment complexes in the city.

We have so much historical value here as well, the old chicago brewery in the north end, we still have many mansions, which since have been turned into restaurant, that lined the streets when chicago was just being built,

Orchestra Hall, concerts in the park, we have plays and musicals along the beach by the lake, also boating, canoeing, fishing and swimming

We have wonderful shopping areas, Clark street, Michigan Ave, Water tower, Sears tower

Plus the nightlife is fabulous, many buildings house daily life with offices and stores but those same buildings open up undergroud (litterally, in the basement of many buildings) to lounges and all you can eat bars etc.

It is never ending where you may run into a celebrity, who comes to shop or even living in the area.

The elevated trains that were built originally in the early 30's.
Are being transformed to accomodate the many residents and visitors daily. Some even restored to the era in which the station was first constructed.

Some of our buildings (mostly the museums) are remnents from the Chicago Worlds Fair and Columbian Exposition which took place in the lat 1800 and early 1900's.

Yea, I have lived here a long time, but I love the city at night, and when I have time to look around and realize this busseling warp of time has changed with the times and yet keeps the old views. So often, I realize I have yet to want to turn my eyes to another town, at least not yet to live.

thanks for the interest.
Others
After a few days, you dont notice them any more.
There are too many things at eye level to grab your attention.
We have a great skyline, but we have a great shoreline, great parks, great streets, great neighborhoods, great people. Great weather (sometimes).

I have lived here all my life and yes it is very interesting to me. I left Chicago for 10 years and I traveled around the world, and I had to come back because I missed it. You never get tired of this city life. I am still learning things about Chicago that I didn't even know.

The architecture of some of these building is very impressive.
