What Are Some Cool Things To Do in Chicago (Near Hyde Park)? |
Travel Info My grandmother and I are headed there on Thursday. WE're going to see the musical Wicked, but if there is anything else neat then I'd appreciate hearing about it! Thanks! Travel Tips The museums, aquarium and Navy pier are awesome and worth seeing. Others Wicked is playing at the Ford Center for Performing Arts...if the weather isn't too hot for you, head on over to Millenium Park and Grant Park and walk around....there are some great gardens as well as other fun stuff to do.... Check the link out below for some of the great museums in the Chicago area. If you are staying in Hyde Park, check out the University of Chicago campus....way cool! http://chicago.about.com/od/museums/chic... http://www.millenniumpark.org/ http://egov.cityofchicago.org/city/webpo... (City of Chicago website) http://www.uchicago.edu (for University of Chicago) The Museum of Science and Industry is the only one near Hyde Park. It's worth checking out. I'd also tour the University of Chicago campus (http://maps.uchicago.edu/campus.shtml).... The Midway Plaisance in particular is fantastic in the summer and the buildings have a classic old style that will make you feel smart just walking through them. There's also a Frank Lloyd Wright house in the middle of the campus that you can tour (http://www.galinsky.com/buildings/robie/... You can also walk over to the beach near the Museum and stroll along the lakefront path. Oh, and I highly recommend Morry's Deli, 5500 S. Cornell St. It's a low frills deli but they make a great pastrami sandwich. Get one after you leave the Museum; Morry's is a straight shot north from the front of the museum. http://www.uchicago.edu/ the navy pier is the best! i live in the subarbs (or however u spell that) and i go downtown all the time! the feild museum, sears tower, millenium park!! luv that last one. there is lots to do! even just walking downtown is great! Near Hyde Park.... well there is of course the Museum of Science and Industry on 57th St., there are quite a few restuarants if you drive/walk down 53rd St., On 55th street there is a bowling alley/restaurant/lounge. There's also always the beach. |
