What to do in Franklin Park/Oak Park Area?

Travel Info
Will be in Franklin Park on business from the end of June until the 8th of July. Any recommendations on things to see/do in the evenings and on the weekends? Restaurants, festivals, sightseeing, etc. Would prefer to avoid going into downtown. Will have a vehicle.

Travel Tips
Cool, I live in Franklin Park. By the end of June.... huh... you'll miss the cicadas! :P
Well, as for sightseeing I don't know any other destinations besides downtown. If you don't want to drive downtown because of traffic, you can always take the Metra train (Franklin Park station is on Belmont) to the Union Station in Chicago. Or, you can drive further up to Rosemont, park your car at the station parking, and take a CTA train (more downtown stations for CTA - you can arrive closer to your downtown destination).
Festivals - make sure to check out the Taste of Chicago from June 29-July 8 in Grant Park.
Sightseeing - the John Hancock building has great views (I'd say even better than the Sears Tower), check out Millenium Park, Navy Pier, Buckingham Fountain, the Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium... whatever interests you.
Ah, I also recommend a sunset boat cruise on Lake Michigan - an awesome experience. There's lots of cruise choices and companies out there, all depending whether you want to party hard on the cruise, have a dinner, etc. For simple sightseeing and enjoying the view, I recommend the cheaper Wendella cruises.
Restaurants - check out Giordano's, famous for Chicago deep dish pizza.
Have fun
Others
Everything is happening in Chicago. To be honest you are not too far from Chicago if you are staying in Oak Park. If you go to the corner of Lake and Oak park ave, you take the train in for about 3 bucks. Downtown oakpark is normally busy during the weekend.
I live here
Madison St in the forest park/ oak park area has a lot of bars and such to hangout at
forest park park district has an annual fireworks display . on the 4th
