Travel Tips
In Chicago, we only have 2 seasons....winter and construction!

In Jan-April, it's cold and snowy. Driving can be treacherous if we have a snowstorm. It gets icy and slushy around. April-June, sunny with some t-storms and temps are 70-80. July-September can get hot!!! 80-100 degrees would be normal. And humid. In the fall, we get an indian summer that is warm (usually in October).
Others
cold winters, hot summers (or construction, if you will). Unfortunately, the summers can be humid, but not always. We just finished a few days of 90s & humidity in the city at least. Breezes along the lake, but not always further inland.
When there's snow, there's ALWAYS a chance for icy roads, but they do try to keep them plowed & salted.
Check weather.com (month forecast) for average highs & lows.
if you stay on the main roads like highways and such and main roads the sanding trucks usually take care of the icy and snowy issues.. summers are pleasant to me because i have lived in texas almost all my life where the temps in summer soared to the 100's in may til september with air conditoning bills being outstanding. It gets windy here but I do not think it is much different than anywhere else maybe a bit more due to the great lakes... unless youre in chicago i suppose it gets really windy. I think it is humid here due to lake effects during summer but i must say it was my first year to truly see all four seasons pass before my eyes which doesnt happen in texas alot ( p.s. but i still miss texas!)
