Can somebody tell me which metro train i should use to go to Grant Park Chicago for Taste of Chicago?

Travel Info
Im coming in from Wisconsin I-90 and I'd like to use the first metro i could see or maybe the one from Ohare airport and then go to Grant Park for taste of Chicago. Can u pls tell what metro station is that and what station is near the Grant Park. thanks in advance.

Travel Tips
Hi Ronnie...

Two ways of getting to Taste from I-90...the first is via the Metra Trains from Elgin. Check out www.metra.com then select Service on the left hand side with the sub-menu of Stations. Select Milwaukee District West Line and look to see where the Elgin Stop is...go ahead and Mapquest it from your house via I-90. The cost is $5.15 each way but if you're coming in for the weekend you can get a bargain fair at $5 for the whole trip.

The other option is to take 90 past O'Hare to Cummberland Avenue going north. Instead of going right at the light stay straight and park at the lot....then you can take the Blue Line into downtown....

Once you get downtown....Union Station is directly west of the Taste area...you can either take a bus that runs along Jackson Blvd to Michigan Avenue and walk to the Taste area. If you're taking the Blue Line, you can get off at Jackson Blvd and walk the few blocks to the Taste area (walking East). Cost for the CTA would be $2 each way plus whatever parking is at the Cumberland Station.

Other Travel Tips
There is a Cumberland stop on the Blue Line that you could take to the Jackson stop, then it is only a few blocks. The Cumberland Blue Line has parking "Kiss and Ride."
you should go on this websites, www.metra.com or www.chicagotransitauthority.co... you should be able to get more info there. good luck. you know, i have lived here in chicago for about 20 years and i have never been to the taste of chicago.
The blue line the first writer is referring to is the CTA or the EL. It runs from Ohare about every 10 minutes. It is a great way to see the city, is convienent with the park and ride, cheap and will get you close to Grant park if you get off at Madison or Monroe.

The Metra rail is the commuter rail service and is a little pricier and also has specific departure times that are somethimes hours apart. Your best bet is to check Metrarail.com. They will give you departure times and your choices. Some of the metras where I live (the south side) don't run on weekends or holidays, and since you didn't say when you were going, they may not work for you. I'm not sure if any of the stations are "close" to Grant park, but they are within walking distance (15-20minutes). I walk from the stations to Grant Park, but I don't mind a longer walk time in the city. There are free trolley services that will run from the Metra stations to Grant Park.

Check out the webpages, google Chicago Transit Authority, and you should find tons of great information.

Have fun!! I love the taste and the minllions of people celebrating together!
