Many booths, and you walk around and buy food.
Personally, I have better things to do with my time, because pigging out like that would easily make me even more fat than I am and most of the people around events like that ARE really fat, too.
Well, the whole idea of Taste of Chicago is so that you COULD go around and sample food from all different restaurants. That was the main idea when it began so many years ago as Chicagofest (yes, that was the original name. You might be able to win some money with that trivia). It's located in Grant park between from Columbus to lake Shore Drive and from Buckingham Fountain to Millenium Park. Even with all of that space it gets kinda packed. Your best bet is to get there early or go during the week when the crowds are light. Get a few things, find a picnic table FAST and sit down and enjoy. I personally wouldn't go anywhere NEAR the park on July 3 and 4. Unless you're into hot sweaty, pushy crowds.
They block the streets off, you have to purchase tickets. With these tickets you can purchase food at the stands. It's great they have a great selection of resturants. Each resturants has about 3-4 different dishes they serve. People walk and eat, or find a spot on the grass. You can try to find somewhere to sit under the tents, buts all the seats are usually taken.
