Travel Info I"m going to be in Chicago...siteseeing. Best way to travel around town? Is there a subway? Travel Tips The "L" train (or the CTA) is the most common form of public transportation. I have used it both during the day and night. It is really nice to have. It only costs $2.00 no matter where you are going. Here is the website for it: http://www.transitchicago.com/ (click on "trip planner" on the right hand side of the screen-here you can plan where you would like to go and when) There is also a train called "Metra". This train doesn't have as many stops but it may get you to your destination faster (depending on where you are going/coming from). Here is the website for Metra: http://www.metrarail.com/ The cost of Metra varies depending on how far you are taking it. It cost me $3.05 to get from Evanston (north side) to downtown..(this may cut your time in half compared to the CTA). Also, pretty much wherever you go, you will not have a hard time finding a taxi that is reasonably priced... I hope you enjoy yourself! Chicago truly is an eventful and exciting place to be! Don't forget to visit places like Navy Pier, John Hancock building, the Art Institute, and of course, Michigan Ave for lots of shopping! Have fun!! Source(s): I used to live there about 2 weeks ago! :) Other Travel Tips yes its called the L Yes, there is a subway/el system, also CTA buses. i lived there for a few years when i was a kid..definetly taxi. hope i helped you! i think there is a subway Check out: http://www.cityofchicago.org I have a friend there, who uses these little cars you can rent by the hour that are scattered around in parking lots. You just slide your credit card and open the door, and turn on and drive.... |
