Affordable, safe, culturally diverse, working-class neighborhoods of Chicago? |
Travel Info can you name some? How are places like Andersonville, Uptown, Edgewater Glen? Travel Tips All three are very close to each other, so there not a whole lot of difference. I'd say the areas like Edgewater (where I live) and Uptown are more diverse in terms of race and economics. You'll find white, blacks, African, newly arrived Eastern Europeans, Asians (chinese, vietnamese, thai), Indians, American Indians, Mexican, you name it. As for income, it varies. For instance in uptown they are now building condos, so you'll find an expensive new glass and steel condo next door to a homeless shelter (seriously). Edgewater is more family orientedhomes, but there are high rises along sheridan road.. Andersonville is single family homes in a neighborhood with swedish heritage, but there is still a lot of ethnic interaction. The housing there is a bit more expensive. For instance you can probably find a one bedroom in Edgewaster or Uptown for $700... maybe even less. In Andersonville it's probably $900 or more. But they are three good places if you're looking for diversity in all areas. Others skokie great town safe, small, and homely :D |
