You should be able to call most any airline and ask them for a bereavement fare. They hold these aside for things like medical emergencies and deaths. It's a cheaper or at least a regular priced fare. Good luck!
I just purchased tickets and checked into all the well known online companys. Out of the ones listed below.....priceline was cheaper by 30 bucks or so. Cheaper then what the airline offered as well.

I believe all airlines have a "bereavement" rate for situations like yours. Just call and ask.
