Why is it call the windy city? |
Travel Info haha and i live in chicago i'm pathetic! haha its just so many different opinons my friend said becuase of the wind DUH! and i went on the internet something about politics? but my homeroom teacher said something about gangs and a gang leader ermm i forgot his name but it starts with the letter A i'm not sure which one it is but the gang opinons interest me i wanna know more about that reasoning so anyone got any clue? Travel Tips I believe it had something to do about politics a long time ago the Chi town leaders were boasting about the city to get the Olympics or some other kind of gig to be held there and some other city leader from Ohio or Indiana said the chi town leaders were full of wind, and from then on Chicago was known as the windy city. In todays world I think people call it the windy city because it can get windy there, but I don't think it is the most windy city in the country as far as weather goes. Others I always heard it was because the politicians around the time of the World's Fair in the 1890's. You can find out a lot about the the little stuff that makes Chicago chicagoey here: http://www.suntimes.com/chicago/chicagop... I always heard when I was younger that it was bc of the politicians bs (blowing wind) in earlier times (well it is still the windy city hint, hint) its on lake michigan... |
