How do i flag down a cab...? |
Travel Info Ok , so i'm going to Chicago this week, i'm not 100% sure how i flag down a cab in downtown... lol any advice? -how do i know if hes accepting rides.?! (pls only answer if you have done this before) Travel Tips Simply go to any busy street, stand at the curb in full view in the side of the street heading the way you want to go, raise your hand and make eye contact with one of the many cabs around. They are in service unless the "not for hire" sign is on. Usually it's easier to look inside to see if someone's there. Watch people around you do it and you'll figure it right out. Many hotels and other facilities (airport, etc) have "starters" or valets that will help you flag a cab, as necessary. Bars and restaurants will call you a cab on request, if you're in a neighborhood not frequented by taxis. Others There is a light on top of the cabs. If the light is on, the cab is accepting rides - just raise your hand at the curb, and the cab will pull over for you. If the light is off, the cab already has a passenger. Or you can just stand at the curb and raise your hand. The cabs will practically fight over you. you simply wave them down, a cabbie will have his "not for hire" light on if hes not accepting customrs. just wave it down. some one will stop. Lift up your shirt. Just raise your hand in the air for a cab, or if theyre waiting near the curb, and nobodys inside one, just get in and tell the guy where your going. You dont have to worry about not accepting rides, there will be so many on one street that one is bound to be accepting, besides, if hes not taking rides, he wont go for you. |
