Coming from Texas, had a change of plans and in need of a good area on the outskirts of Chicago quick!!!!? |
Travel Info I'm coming this weekend to the Taste of Chicago, and i've changed my mind and decided to stay in a hotel in one of the outer neighborhoods and drive in for the celebrations. Can someone please recommend a good safe neighborhood within a good distance for the weekend??? I plan on arriving Friday, and 20 or 30 mins. of driving time is just fine. Travel Tips Depending on which airport you are arriving at, there are a lot of good hotels near both Midway and O'hare airports. The drive from Midway to Downtown is about.. 25 minutes. O'Hare to Downtown is about... 40 minutes.. depending on traffic. You may also want to try Public Transportation.. the CTA Orange Line from Midway Airport to Downtown is about a 20-25 minute trip... and the CTA Blue Line from O'Hare Airport to Downtown is about a 40-45 minute trip. The CTA's fare is just $2.00 and will save you way more than driving. Parking Downtown will be extremely hard to find. I recommend public transportation but if you don't want to do that, it's all your choice. Have fun in Chicago! Others which airport? I thought the taste of chicago ends on july 4th Hang on cowpoke! Your transmission was just fixed. Why push it with commuting in congested traffic and then searching a 1/2 hr. for a $25 parking slot? Go back to your previous Chgo question and take the advice given by MichaelP. Stay anywhere downtown but the Congress Plaza and take public transportation, a taxi or free trolley to/from the "Taste." |
