If you only had one day in Chicago, what would you do?

Travel Info
I will be visiting Chicago for a very short time, from about 9am to 6pm tomorrow (July 6). I've never been to Chicago before. How should I spend my time in order to get the full Chicago "experience".

Thanks!

Travel Tips
Hang out downtown on State Street. it is the crossroads of the city, the center. Almost every bus and train eventually makes its way to the Loop. You'll see everytype of Chicagoan there, every race, every nationality, every economic class. You'll see historic buildings, new construction, how the city moves. People going to work, people just hanging out, etc. You can shop there, eat there, drink there, just people watch there. The Art Institute is just a couple of blocks over on Michigan Ave. Millenium Park is also a couple of blocks over, also on Michigan Ave. You can go to the Harold Washington Library on the south end and maybe catch a free lunchtime lecture or concert. You can go to the Chicago Cultural Center a block away on Randolph street and see free concerts there as well. You can go one block over to Miller's Pub on Wabash and Adams and see what a classic Chicago bar/restaurant is like. Lots of great old pictures on the wall.

State Street IS Chicago, the first place they built up right after the fire. There are a lot of "experiences" in Chicago, but if you want to get a feel for how it all comes together, I'd go there.

Go to the Waterfront...Navy Pier. Alot of neat places to eat and shop along the waterfront all folded into one area.
Well there's the Sears Tower, go up to the observation deck. The Brookfield Zoo. The museum of natural history. The Hard Rock Cafe, Ed Debevicks, walk Michigan Ave. for the shops The Al Capone museum. Second City theater. for stand up comedy. Navy Pier. Walk Lake Shore Drive for the sites and shops. Catch a game if you can. There's the Rock N Roll McDonalds on the Near North Side.

Have fun, I've been there several times, and on my honeymoon 3 days wasn't enough!
Spend the day at the Garfield park Conservatory....you will be amazed !!
Spend your time at the Chicago Art Institute and eat deep-dish somewhere. I spent an entire weekend at the Institute the last time I was in Chi and went away perfectly fulfilled.
I would go to the Sears Tower and The hankcock Building. Then If in the summertime go to the Taste Of Chicago Yum!!!
And them i would go on a boat on Lake Michagan. Go to the Navy Pier for a fun ride and then go jump in the lake have fun
I lived in Chicago for 15 years and counting
