No. Except for the Metropolitan Region around Santiago, most of Chile is wide open spaces, with farmland in the central valley, the world's driest desert (the Atacama) in the north, the glaciers and rain-soaked islands of the south, and the sparsely-populated far south. Chile also claims a large wedge of Antarctica, which it calls O'Higgins Land, that is uninhabited except for a sprinkling of scientific bases.

No it is not crowded relatively. if you think of NYC or even Tokyo, those are crowded.

Santiago de Chile is a marvellous city except for the smog.
