Other Travel Tips Ming tang. encyclopedias and other historical records were made in that time and the arts flourished. Qin, the life size terracotta soldiers Tang, lots of art & literature Qing, reached its greatest size tang Tang Dynasty - this is the golden period of China. Tang China was the most powerful empire in the world during 7th-8th centuries. Poetry, painting, sculpture and arts flourished during this period of time. A lot of the architecture and arts also travelled overseas. Even today, some called overseas "Chinatowns" as "Tang Ren Jie." Tang as in Tang Dynasty. Furthermore Tang poetry is the most widley read and studied by scholars and students over the last millennium. In fact the poetry provide excellent clues for the original sounds of Chinese spoken during Tang dynasty. Scholars have found when Tang poems are read in southern dialects such as Hokkien or Cantonese, they rhyme much better than Mandarin for the fact that the original spoken language in China (zhong yuan) because the southern dialects have preserved the original sounds. The same could be said about the Japanese reading of Chinese characters (kanji) that many of the sounds were preserved when Chinese literature and text were brought to Japan during the Tang dynasty by Buddhist monks and other scholars. |
