Travelling to China - Beijing?

I'l be going to china next week. other than the Great Wall and the forbidden city could some one tell me places close to COFCO building for me to see. i mean i dont want to go to far away places in plane.

would be a great help if the place ands how to get there from the COFCO building could be told. Also good shopping places for cheap and quality stuff!!

The COFCO Plaza is very centrally located in virtually the heart of Beijing right on the Jianguomen Avenue and is merely a couple of kilometers from the Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City.
The places of interest,apart from those mentioned by you,that are close by are,Wangfujing,1 kilometer on the west,Temple of Haven,Lama Temple and of course not forgetting the Peking Opera,bang opposite to your place,then for the cheap shopping stuff there is the Silk Street and the Friendship Store down the same avenue 3 km away towards the east.Great walk!!
