Travel Info I'm trying to find a list of all the temples in Shanghai. You should put a 10 bill in the slot before entering. It is at the Jingnan stop of line 2. After visiting, go across the street to the Jingnan Park. This is where the action is. We watched ladies practicing fan dances and artists drawing Chinese characters on teh ground in water. Also, there is a terrific restaurant in the park, overlooking the water, called "Bali Laguna". Jade Buddah is the temple to go to. very cool. Make sure and eat at the vegetarian dumpling place within the temple, and also go upstairs to the tea house. They will give a great demonstration and their tea prices are not bad. Reclining Buddah is the coolest. Yuyuan Garden is a tough one. REally pretty and cool to see the temple and gardens BUT TONS of tourists! Bus after bus keeps pulling up and it is always a hassle to walk through. We have been 3 times and never caught a break. It is fun to shop around there but be prepared to bargain. How many days do you have? Right outside of ShangHai area is Quibao.. you can drive there in 30 minutes from Pudong. This is like the Yuyuan area, but without all the foreigners/tourists. You will just see Chinese here. Yuyuan Garden is NOT a buddhist temple. It is a taoist temple dedicated to the city guardian gods. The only Buddhist temples in the city are: Long Hua temple Jing An temple Jade Buddha (Yu Fuo) temple |
