What papers do I need to bring my Chinese fiance from China? |
Travel Info What papers do I need to bring my Chinese fiance from China? Travel Tips I concur with the first answer. Do not marry her in China, bring her to the USA on a fiance visa. A word to the wise, coming from experience. While this about Filipino Brides and not Chinese, the same could hold true. It seems, once the woman gets acclimated to the US that it does something to them. I've known a lot of men who have imported brides from the Philippines and not one of the marriages lasted. Everyone of them ended up being taken to the cleaners. My advice, if you can possibly live in China and make a good living there, just adopt it as your home and stay. --------------- Ammendum to my original post. It seems I am not alone in my assesment, I thought I would be slammed. Anyway, before you marry her, really get to know her. I can't stress that more. Ask her questions, like, what if I stay in China with you? That you will not agree to importing the rest of her family. Hard ball her. Make sure she is not acting she is in love with you, but is in fact, in love with you. YOU NEED TO BE REALLY CAREFUL. There is a general belief that life in the USA is filled with gold and an easy life. That everyone lives in nice homes and drives nice cars. That America is like the sit-com, Friends. People do not move here for political freedom, they move here for opportunity and more money. I wish you the best of luck Peace Others You are going to need the K1 visa which will allow her to come to the USA for 3 months. You will need to marry within that period then apply for a change of status for her to stay. It can be a lengthly process on the K1 and I would recommend help from an attorney unless you are very sure of you ability to figure out the forms. Using an attorney is expensive but can save you months or even years if anything goes wrong. Check out the US Immigration website for more info. You will want to use the K1 to bring her here first, don't marry in China or it will take longer to bring her here. Good luck to you. Are you sure she is totally in love with you, and not your nationality or money. 99% of Chinese brides to overseas ends in divorce...... I hope your fiance will not "cheat" on you later when she has her green card. Hope you know what you are getting yourself into by marrying Chinese women. You don't just marry her BUT also her whole family......she will insists on having her family with her later in USA too. Beware of the "Dragon Lady"! Anyway, good luck to you!! Ok, first from a professional stanpoint ( I am a Border Patrol Agent) like the first person said you need a K-1 visa, it is a lenghty process and part of the requirements for the visa is that you have met the person previously and be able to proove it. Once she get the visa then she can come to the US and marry. After marriage then you have to adjust her status. All in all it should cost you from K-1 to US citizen aboyt 7000 dollars if you dont have a problem filling out the forms urself. Much more if you use a lawyer but of course less hassle. Also remember that you have to prove to us that is not marriage fraud, preatty hefty find for that federal crime. Then from the other standpoint, just like any other marriage, I hope you are not getting a mail order bride. Make sure you know her and you get along and all the things necessary to make a lasting relatiuonship and not ending up in a divorce or used to just get citizenship. Good luck there are 2 ways to bring your chinese finace to the u.s. the I129-f visa and the I130 visa. i brought my wife to the u.s. on the I-129f visa. it took about 7 months, because we all have not done this before it seemed overwelming at first but it wasn't really. look on the website.......uscis.gov and you can get all the information you need. the second step was to get her green card, also not too difficult. it took 5 months. we'll be married 2 years in sept. and she is wonderful. we are both in our 50's. good luck to you. email if you have other questions. by the way we got married in china and had no problems with that either. good experiences all around by my wife and i |
