Chinese Host Familiy Gift? |
Travel Info I am a student in New York and I am going to live with a host family for two months in the Yunnan Province of China this summer. I was wondering what a good gift to give them would be, or what people need in that area that they could not get there. Thanks! Travel Tips Anything not made in China is appreciated, but very hard to find here in the States. I found that my in-laws really like the American Ginseng, which you can buy in most supermarkets/drugstores in Chinatown. Also, the women like Revlon, Maybelline, Clinique, etc. The Russell Stover/Lindt/etc. boxes of chocolate are also nice to give as gifts to adults. They would probably love some NY T-shirts. I always bring a couple of bags of DumDums or Tootsie Rolls to keep in my bag to hand out to the little kids. But I'm sure anything will be much appreciated by your host family! Others Anything but a Clock. Something that is from New York that something that is not in China, that they will treasure. something like a music box or something that comes uniquely from your town well.. they dont have american music, only really old like backstreet boys and Nsync lol I agree with person # one...don't give them a clock...it means giving you death. You can get them NY Yankees baseball hat or Disney products for the kids. As for the Adults, bring them American Ginseng products...they will love it. |
