what are the best buys? how do I take care of the jet lag?

Travel Tips
November is still pretty warm / hot in China depending on where you are going. I went to China last November during Thanksgiving. The weather is nice there (Summer clothes with a light jacket.)

Actually, you don't need to worry about what clothes to bring too much if you are not an extremely picky or needing a XXL size person. Clothes from China are one of the best buy in China.

- Don't drink water directly from the tape. (At least you need to boil it. Depending on where you are going, there could be some funny taste with it. Not a bad idea to drink bottle water only. They are not expensive.)

- There is no tiolet paper in public bathroom (in most cases.)

- Not a bad idea to try a rice burger from McDonald in HK. (I haven't eaten it last time since there are too many other good food to eat. But it is funny.)

- November is the season for Big Binding Crab (river crab... expensive baby...). If you have a chance to go to HK or Shanghai. You should try it.

- Anything that is not a US or Europe brand is a good deal over there. I usually buy tons of clothes.

Jag lock... Try not to sleep on the plane if you arrive at night. Sleep more if your plane arrive at day time. Do whatever you can to keep yourself up until 9 or 10pm on the first day of the trip... This helps me to adjusted myself in 1 day.
Others
If you're going into Beijing, it's getting colder at the time you're getting there so pack sweaters, maybe take a light parka, just wear it on the plane.

As to jet lag, my remedy is to get myself very tired out before getting on the plane and getting as much sleep as possible, also to take a nap as soon after your get to your destination to try and adjust.

Here's more on jet lag...........

i think you have much time... think of other things first... at the end of september i think you can think about your trip to china..
just 5 weeks left, i am going to travel to bali and i haven't thought about somethin like that
get toilet paper.
or like buy packs of tissue paper.
a lot of their toilets do not have toilet paper..

and when you get to china.. prepare to see some of the most digusting things on earth.
its not pleasing.. people spit everywhere.
and please don't eat any of the street food.
its very easy to get food poisoning there.

jet lag is easy to take care of.
just sleep when the rest of the town sleeps and wake up when everyone else does. it will be hard. but thats the only way to get rid of it.
and besides. i'm sure you will be tired by walking all the time when you get to china.
China is a great country i'm chinese so i'd know. your should be careful what you order, its a very poor country, if a res truant seems to inviting don't go into it.
If you are traveling on your own (not on any pre-booked group tour) then good chinese-english maps will be essential and a good guide book. For guide book, I suggest, The Rough Guide of China (http://www.roughguides.com/) and bilingual china maps (http://www.trax2.com/chinamaps/)...
