Travel Tips
there is no sales price where ever you go in china. usually in a place shopping place , whatever the price is display is how much you are paying. but in a small store ( a really small room area) usually you bargain for a better price( if they tell you its like 500 you can cut down to like 30). usually cut the price down to what you think it really worth. if they don't like your price , just walk away because they gonna call you back for a better price. and if they still don't give the price you think its right then walk away again and then they gonna call you back again. most of the time this is the final price they will give you.
Others
No one ever said anything about tax, so the price agreed upon is the final price. If you are buying from someone in a stall you should offer about 1/2 their original asking price.
there is no sales tax in china, just as there is no property tax either. most things go for cash. no receipts, no nothing. what you see is what you get..........who woulda thunk.
i wondered about this myself but seeing is believing.......
There is a VAT (value added tax) on many goods and services in China. Like most of the world, with the major exception being the US, the tax is already included in the price. The price you see or agree to will be the price you pay.
The amount of the tax varies depending on the product or service, but is as much as 17% on some goods like books and newspapers.
The prices listed in stores, or agreed on during a barganing session, always includes the tax. Whether this tax gets paid to the government by the vendor is another matter altogether, but not your concern.
For sales tax, there are 2 types of tax. Sales tax- 6% and Value Added Tax- 17%

If your company does not have a total of 1.8million RMB revenue in a year, the company will only be able to issue sales tax of 6%,i.e. selling price x 6% (that will be your tax)

If your company issues VAT invoice, meaning anything you mark up will be tagged along with 17% taxation.

Most of the time, the price tag you see, has already included tax in it.
