Buy cigarettes in Beijing?

I am a foreigner, currently staying in Beijing. I heard that cigarettes in china is cheaper, compared with other country. But from my experiences, it wasnt that cheap.. or maybe i bought the wrong one? I'm looking for the light one, not the heavy one, hope somebody can suggest me which brand is cheap.

Then which one is cheaper, buy it from street seller or in the cigarettes shop?

If you are looking for inexpensive light Chinese cigarettes then the company "Beijing Cigarette Factory" makes two and they are the best I have found in China. The names are "Five" (5 mg tar) and "Ten" (10 mg tar). Amazingly simple names and much cheaper than western brands. The price is about the same on the street or in a shop but the street is usually a little cheaper. ( http://www.znhonline.com ) You do not want to buy any of the "A Pen" brands or "Dahongying". They are way too strong.

You can only get foreign brands if you are looking for "light" cigarettes.

Suggest you try out Marlboro, Salem, Dunhill, Davidoff.

Buy from the convenience stores, or supermarkets or trusted cigarette shops. Never, never, never buy from the street vendors as you could end up paying good money for fake cigarettes.

Prices for the above range from around RMB 15 per pack. If you are a heavy smoker, you can usually ask for a discount of RMB 5 to 10 when you purchase a carton of 10 packs at a go.
