Travel Info Will you be buying China products anymore Now that they have been found to be substandard? Travel Tips of course not, but then again, i usually try not to buy products made by china. Several years ago, i've heard of some really scary news about china and the way they make their products. they just have horrible work ethics. they try to find the easiest and cheapest way to make things. obviously the products don't turn out to be the best with horrible materials. Others what does sub-standard mean? what about the sub-standard products that has been exported to China ? China too has rejected them, are you going to buy those products too ? and some of them are made by famous multi-national companies. Quality control has advanced a huge amount and is changeing all the time. Considering how many thousands of products are produced your question is unfair to lump them all together. A major reason many products are of a basic standard is our own fault, because that is where people go to get their cheapest option. When the wholesale price of a t shirt has been bargained down to under a dollar, what standard would you expect? Degree in Asian studies and economics, about 6 years living experience in China with the first trip being in 1991, and the most recent trip lasting 4 years and ending a few months ago. I'm buying and will continue to buy - books & magazines (it is dirt cheap in Beijing / Guangzhou / Shanghai / Jiangmen... to buy books / dictionaries that are printed in China...) - silk products, I've just bought a silk scarf as gift to a friend (Chinese found silk worm and cultivate them a few thousands years ago, while the westerners were still wearing ____ , I don't know what they wore.. leaves? sheep skins? furs?) - tea leaves - China is the biggest producer of tea (835,000 tonnes in 2005), I can't find myself any reason to stop buying good quality tea (green tea, black tea, especially!). - 2008 OIymplics souvenirs - I have just bought 2 T-shirts and a set of playing cards (with all the sport events and the scheduled dated printed on different cards in Beijing International Airport), definitely they are all made in China, but can you give me a reason of why I shouldn't buy them? - Porcelain - Needness to explain, Chinese porcelain is known throughout the world for the wide selection of excellent quality! - Food - when I'm in Beijing and eating out in the restaurants, I'm sure all the ingredients they used are from China, so far, I'm still alive. I'm from Hong Kong, a frequent traveler! |
