In Kentucky I know that your car and house are considered property and will be taxed as such. I live in Ohio so we do not pay property tax on our car. The job market for computers is all right. Companies are always looking for IT people. A lot of people live in northern Kentucky and commute to downtown Cincinnati to work. Cincinnati has a lot of Fortune 500 companies such as Procter & Gamble (makers of Pampers, Tide detergent, Bounty paper towel), Chiquita, Kroger. Cincinnati Bell and Duke Energy (our local utility company) are also based downtown. If you want to know the job situation, go to Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com to see what is out there in your field. As for rent, it depends on the neighborhood you want to live in. I think it would be cheaper to rent a 2 bedroom apartment and live with a roommate. I think apartments run from $400 a month to as high as $800. Others The job market is fair here in Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati. There are a ton of businesses it just depends on what you want to do. As the other answer suggested check out Monster or Career Builder. You should also check out http://www.cincinnati.com/classifieds/... to find job and apartment info. I don't know what rent is in TX, but in Northern KY rent can run anywhere from just under $400 to $1200. You can find a decent one bedroom in a nice neighborhood for around $500, $400 if your lucky. As for switching your car to a KY plate . . . you might need to look into having the loan switched to your name. If the lender you're currently working with isn't willing to do it, you may need to find a loan on your own and buy your dad out. I personally would suggest saving between $3000 and $4000 if possible. That will give you enough money for several months rent (keep in mind most apartments will require a deposit), and give you enough money to live on for 3 to 5 months depending on how well you manage your money. Within that time frame you should definitely be able to find a job. Good luck! Northern Kentucky resident. Txgirl, its cheaper to live in OH than Ky. !!They detrmine your license plates on the value of your car (their value, not Bluebook) I hve an apt for rent ,1bdrm.wshr&dryer 1st fl in Norwood OH,Convenient to I75 andI 71 and N Ky. In a peaceful neighborhood with well kept 100+ yr old homes with beautiful woodwork Contact me as it is $500 +utilities. And we are a "neighborhood where we all know each other" ! And you are 20 min from Florence Ky Contact me at eldoradodave@yahoo.com Check the following websites. Simplyhired or Indeed. These two sites are aggregators, which means they will crawl job postings on company websites and/or career finder sites. What you do is insert keywords that apply to your interest as if you are doing a Yahoo or Google search. The site then searches the internet for job openings that either contain those keywords within the posting or if it applies to an opening. Another place to look is Craigslist. Its actually amazing for large metropolitan cities...Cincinnati may be a stretch. You may seem skeptical to use this site after looking at its homepage but there are a lot of Fortune 500 companies that post openings on there....at least in New York. Craigslist will also allow you to apartment shop. Be very careful to the postings. Rent is dependent upon where you live. Nice areas around there if you are young and want to be in the middle of things would be, Covington. If you cross into Cincinnati there are neighborhoods not to far...Mt. Lookout, Hyde Park, Mt. Adams, Parts of Oakly. Pricey dependent on location within the towns. But they are the young professionals area. Papers are another source. |
