My husband's job may be relocating us to Cincinnati soon, where is a good place to live in the area? |
Travel Info I am also a little worried about what I have heard about the crime rates and such. We currently live near Salt Lake City, UT where crime is relatively low. Can anyone give me advice that lives in that area as to where a good place to live is, schools, etc. Travel Tips Mason, Lebanon (for a much smaller town feel, but still within a very good commuting distance), West Chester, and Liberty Township are all higher class suburbs which I think will meet your requirements very well, very family oriented with low crime rates, but good access to the city. If you want to go closer to the city, there is Glendale, Montgomery, Blue Ash, or Hyde Park, but the crime rate in those areas starts to go up a bit (although they are all still very nice areas). Im betting that you would find Lebanon really to your liking though, based on where you are coming from, and its not a place many Cincinnatians would recommend to you becasue they consider it far away- but its a 40 minute commute to downtown max, so its really not as far as its perceived to be. Good luck with your move! Source(s): I personally wouldnt go to the KY side myself, despite the previous suggestion... Other Travel Tips Depends on where in Cincy your talkin about. Its such a big area. If your talkin in the city of cincy there is high crime rate. I would try something a little farther away than the city and get something close to 275 or 75. Like Mason, Fairfield, Feilds Ertle, Eastgate. There are a number of good suburbs here in Cincinnati with excellent school systems. Mason is growing and is extremely popular. West Chester has decent schools and is about 20 miles north of downtown. Blue Ash is good because of the Sycamore school system. They are about 17-20 miles north of downtown. Wyoming also has a good school system. They are 10 miles north of downtown. In Cincinnati it takes about 30-45 minutes to get from one side to the other assuming you are not driving in rush hour traffic. If i were you, i would not live in Cincinnati itself. Crime can be high around Over the Rhine. Some good neighborhoods to live in in Kentucky would be: Villa Hills- Only a 20 - 25 minute drive. Variety of houses and prices and very high educated schools! Crescent Springs-About the same as Villa Hills because they are right next to each other. Still about a 20 - 25 minute drive and great schools along with great houses and surroundings. Edgewood- A little farther of a drive and higher priced houses. If I was you...I would move to either Villa Hills or Crescent Springs. Good Luck! Cincinnati is in the heart of a tri-state area. There are limitless towns and suburbs In Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana within an hour's drive, even a 25-30 minute drive of downtown. Do some research and you'll be fine. Welcome!!!! Downtown Cincinnati has the Museum of Natural History, but you will not want to live downtown. Consider such places as Harrison, Miami (OH), Hyde Park, Mason, Indian Hills. They have good schools, good areas to live in, and sound like your cup of tea based on the criteria you've listed. |
