Where are some fun places to go in Cleveland, Ohio? |
Travel Info Please tell me from experience. You never know what you're actually getting if you trust the cleveland.com website. I'd rather hear from actual people. Travel Tips The rock n roll hall of fame is a waste. The science center is cool. Visit our ZOO its the 2nd best in the country. Swear! Cedar Point halloweekends is pretty cool check the website for coupons and stuff...they can have some good deals on there. Little Italy for some decent food the bakerys can be expensive though. Downtown is OK its small compared to most cities the gallaria on 9th sucks its a waste of time. Tower city isnt bad for shopping they have a good food court. Nice variety. The metropark system is nice if the weather is good. The cuyahoga valley recreation area is nice too. Its historical and pretty ......its a park just so you know ....good for hiking and walking and biking. Honey hut ( homemade honey ice cream) ice cream on state rd in cleveland 44109 (for mapquest) they have a web site too....best ice cream around. Pretty crowded after dinner so go early. Lines go into the street. Country maid is good ice cream too in richfield I believe. we always go there on the bike its a good stop. Both places make homemade ice cream with local flavors like black walnut and cherrys ...mmmmm good stuff. Fat Fish Blue for some good cajun eats and blues. Hard rock cafe sucks *** its horrible here. Atlanta is better. All 3 times ive been there the food was dry and over cooked. Harrys steakhouse on 21 is always good for some steak. Just dont order blue cheese dressing for your salad. Hyde Park Steakhouse in the midland bldg 101 w prospect is tasty. If you like antique browsing check out lorain ave the shops run from around W40th and lorain to around W100th and lorain just cruise down the street and look for them they are easy to spot most have the red white and blue antique flags out. Saturday is a good day to do that most are open. clutter box and the gallery are appointment only I think. But seriously save a day for the ZOO and one for Cedar Point those are the highlights of living here. Cedar Point is about 45 mins to an hour west of here along the lake just take 90 west to rt 2 west (it splits at lorain) get off at rt 6 and make a right off freeway then an immediate left onto rt 6 by the mcdonalds you cant miss it. Follow it down till you see signs for cedar point causeway and main enterance. Enterance is by TGI Fridays. Pier W has decent sea food over in lakewood make reservations for evenings thier brunch is awesome call and see if you need res. for brunch im not sure. I forget. The Harp on Detroit rd has good food at really good prices ...its an Irish place so they have a nice bar too. Well theres some ideas. Have fun in Cleveland. I stress our zoo and park systems its some of the nicer ones youll see around the country. Ive been to several in other states they dont compare. I forgot about the west side market you have to go there its part of clevelands history tons of food cheap fresh foods...all cultures. closed on tues thurs and sunday go way early ! its located on w25th and lorain Coventry over on the east side is always good for a visit too its got an eclectic mix of arcitecture and some fun shops. Others Depends on what you're into...The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is worth checking out at least once, and they have a very large and interesting Science Museum right next door. Have fun! Since my mom grew up in Columbus, here's stuff from her: Cedar Point Amusement Park (like Six Flags) go to the Lakefront (Lake Erie) Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame a short drive is Baseball Hall of Fame in Canton, OH Have fun in Cleveland!! The Botanical Gardens, The Natural History Museum, Severance Hall, Coventry Village in Cleveland Heights, Horseshoe Lake in Shaker Heights, any of the metroparks. The Zoo can be fun in the right weather, and the RainForest next to the zoo is really great year-round. THE GOOD TIME FERRY its a huge gigantic boat they also have pirate ships that sail every year my sister and her family go I seen them docked right behind the browns stadium and the science center and the rock and role hall of fame. For Dinner: go to Little Italy and find a cute little Italian rest. If you want to party: go to West 6th Warehouse district or the Gateway district near the House of Blues. For Culture: Hang out near the Art museum Thrift shopping: Coventry area If you have kids ther is also tons to do. If you want to be a tourist go to Rock Hall- you have to see it once. Im an east sider so I Like everything over there. Ther is a whole other world on the West side. I have not been in three years so dont know whats happening over ther. have fun |
