Weekend Getaway in N. Eastern Ohio....?

Travel Info
It is my husband's and my anniversary in 2 weeks...I was just wondering if anyone out there perhaps familiar with NorthEastern Ohio knew of any nice hotels or bed n' breakfasts to go to, maybe somewhere in the country?

Travel Tips
Well the nicest hotels are in the Cleveland area. I'm not just saying that because I'm from there or promote it all the time, but it is really true.

Ohio's only Ritz Carlton is in Cleveland for one; certainly the best hotel Ohio - but one of the more expensive. Other very nice upscale hotels in Cleveland, but more resonably priced are the Hyatt or Renaissance. All three of those hotels are right downtown and within walking distance to some great and romantic restaurants and bars on W.6th and E.4th. A lot of the restaurants there are only a few years old, so if you haven't been downtown in while it has changed quite a bit. There are also things downtown like the Rock Hall, and Playhouse Square. All these hotels offer anniversary or weekend packages that are a huge savings. You certainly could have a very luxurious, exciting, and romantic weekend downtown, but that might not be what you are looking for.

University Circle is near downtown but staying right there in University Circle might be really nice idea because there are several unique/independant hotels, and is absolutely gorgeous around the lagoon and parks during fall. In a couple weeks a huge high profile exhibit on Barcelona art will be at the Museum of Art, and I think the touring Princess Diana exhibit will be at the Western Reserve Historical Society. Don't forget about the Cleveland Orchestra, Botanical Gardens, and the little romantic restaurants, shops and art galleries in Little Italy.

Across the river from downtown you could stay in a nice bed and breakfast and experience one of Cleveland's most charming Victorean neighborhoods, and up and coming hotspots. It is like a quieter, smaller, more wordly version of downtown. The West Side Market is of course a must-see European style market hall, Great Lakes Brewing Company doesn't just have great beer and food- it has become a Cleveland landmark. Anyway, Ohio City is just a really nice walkable neighborhood with a lot of character and entirely filled with unique restaurants and cafes. It probably has one of the best B&B's around: Clifford House.

You could also consider staying in Edgewater Estates. It is across from the lake and located in one of Cleveland's most prestigeous neighborhoods. This B&B is in an old mansion. Anyway, here you could advantage of the lake and park, but be minutes from downtown and Ohio City.

Other Travel Tips
Im from N.E part of Ohio, and its sort of boring :( But what part exactly did u want to visit? Cleveland? Akron? Younstown?? I'm not sure about the bed in breakfast part, most of those are Marriot and Sheraton, everything else around here is the get up and go to the lobby to get breakfast, hotels. If the weather is still somewhat warm and clear when u get here, i would suggest visiting Headlands State park beach, its a very beautiful part of lake Erie, and my favorite part of NE Ohio. If u want to know more then its ok to e-mail me.
There are many nice places in northeastern Ohio, but one of my favorites is in Dellroy, Ohio, the Whispering Pines. It is near Atwood Lake, so you can enjoy the park areas as well as the general area.

But if that doesn't suit you, check out the second link which will provide you with information on many other places around northeastern Ohio.

Have a great celebration!

Do you have any preference of where in NE Ohio? Like, near Cleveland or Aurora or Akron or Warren or Conneaut? Also, do you have a price range of hotel/B&B of nightly rates? I assume you want this to be a romantic setting, like you like waterfalls? fields? A farm maybe with romantic buggy rides? Let us know.
