Why is Downtown so lame? Aren't we ever going to do anything cool with it?

Travel Info
Every large american city has nice stores, wallking areas, things to see downtown. If u go to downtown Cleveland........it is a big nothing. Why don't we do something? Or is something going on and I don't know about it yet?

I am very surprised to read this, you obviously have been away for quite something and have not been back to visit. Cleveland has a great deal going on, especially in the downtown area. I moved away several years ago, i go back as often as possible and see something new and improved each time I return. They have a new football stadium, a new base ball stadium, a new convocation center for the Cavs,Tower City has been restored and up and running for years. The Rock and Roll hall of fame, this is only a few of the things going on. Go and check it out, you will be greatly surprised. I was. God bless

I was surprised to see your question. I have been to Cleveland a number of times and enjoy going to the top rate Cleveland Musuem of Art and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

As far as walking areas, I would say you are lucky to have the downtown shopping development at the landmark Terminal Tower.

Much much more exciting than downtown Buffalo!

I also remember going to an artist district in the south side of the city which I was similarly impressed with. Then there is always Severance Hall and the tradition steeped Orchestra there.
the reason is its the mistake by the lake,LOL
Hey, there are plenty of things to do downtown. I really hope they try to build it up again, though, because it is turning into a ghost town. You know what has a lot of cool things? Coventry! as well as Ohio City. Try those places, I think you will be pleased.

Have fun!

I understand what you are saying about thedowntown shopping. When I was growing up,I used to go downtown Cleveland every year and do my Christmas Shopping. It was exciting because there was so much going on, decorations, people traffic, the snow. There was Higbees and Halle's and May Co, then over to the Old Arcade for a bit more, and maybe the Colonial Arcade. But most of those are gone, and there is nothing but Tower City. Which is really disappointing. Too bad there weren't enough downtown shoppers to keep the Galleria Open.

In regards to everything else, there is a lot to see and do and many places to eat in downtown. You just have to go to the suburbs to shop!
