What would be considered southwest Ohio? |
Travel Info I was told that there are beautiful snowy winters and nice summers in southwest Ohio. Also fall has color changing leaves. I am trying to relocate so this is extremely important!! Is this true and again, what is considered southwest Ohio? Travel Tips see link for map and go to upper right and click southwest Source(s): http://consumer.discoverohio.com/visitor... http://consumer.discoverohio.com/whereto... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ohiolynx/... Other Travel Tips it's like that all over ohio that is the good thing about ohio we actually have four seasons! Southwest Ohio is generally considered to be the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton area. Any further north or east from Dayton and thats starting to become Central Ohio. As far as the seasons... you're right. There are 4 true seasons in Southwest Ohio. Although, I would say that "snowy" means that the snow sticks after a storm. Like most of the country, Cincinnati only gets snow when a storm comes through, but its generally cold enough for the snow to stick through most of the winter months. You have to go further north around the Great Lakes if you're looking for a textbook snowy winter, but Cincinnati is still beautiful. Fall starts in Early October and stretches through mid-november before the most beautiful foliage has fallen. Fall is fantastic in the Miami and Ohio Valley. Summer can get hot... but generally is pretty mild compared to the rest of the country. Humidity gets up there, but you very rarely see days above the low 90s. The only gripe I have with the area is its a hotbed for allergies. Apparently its one of the highest allergen count areas in the country. I've never really been anywhere else to compare... but it gets pretty bad during allergy season. Check it out - its a beautiful part of the country I lived in Cincinnati for 5 years, and I've been in Northern Ohio for another 20. Southwest Ohio would be any place west of US 23 south of Columbus. and South of I-70 west of Columbus. This would include cities like Washington Courthouse, Xenia , Mason , Lebanon , Middletown-Hamilton, Cincinnati , Dayton , Fairborn , Wilmington, and Jeffersonville. I-71 and I-75 are the principle interstates that go through Southwest OH and I 70 pretty much divides the state in half north and south. SW Ohio has some pretty hot summers. The Autumn is beautiful , as you've been told. The winters don't yield as much snow as would Northeast Ohio. If you like snow , the snowbelts of Northern Ohio in Lake and Ashtabula counties get plenty. |
