I will be visiting Cleveland next month. How safe is this part of the US?

Travel Tips
Cleveland is maybe more safe than most US cities. Cleveland is located in the Midwest on the shores of Lake Erie. Most people like the Midwest part of the US, because it is a nice and safe place to have a family.

There are certain unsafe parts of the city, but I can not think of any reason why you would be in unsafe parts. The center of the city - downtown - is very nice and safe to walk around from the hotels to different restaurants, bars, and attractions like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Tower City Center. West Sixth Street and East Fourth Street are nice streets with popular upscale restaurants and bars. These restaurants are very nice at night in the summer, because people sit at tables outside on the sidewalk and enjoy the sights and atmosphere of downtown. At night some people on the streets may ask you for money, but they are not dangerous. Just ignore them, or say you have no cash.

Cleveland has many very nice suburbs on the outskirts of the city where most people live. Crocker Park in Westlake (west of the city) and Beachwood Mall and Legacy Village (east of the city) in Beachwood are very nice shopping centers with luxury shopping and dining.

As safe as any other part. It has its good neighbourhoods and its bad. If you are staying at a name hotel, it will likely be in the good neighbourhoods. All of the tourist attractions you want to visit are also in the good parts. I can't help you with specific areas to avoid, but I know I won't stay at the truck stop overnight.

You are safe in most big cities. Cleveland is safe as long as you don't search out places that would draw crime, like back alleys, run down neighborhoods, drug hang outs, etc. Stay in a decent hotel and you will be fine. I wouldn't think twice about going to Cleveland.
IT is the second most dangerous city in america you really need to watch yourself and only take verified cabs we have a lot of Gypsy cab drivers that will take you to the worse neighborhoods and rob you then leave you there for the gangs to pick you apart then theres is always the robbery's that occur around the downtown hotels
I live in this he** hole
I'm from the area; lived in Las Vegas for 11 years, and moved back last year. Cleveland it safe as long as you aren't being stupid, flashing cash, etc. Stay in the 'tourist' areas of Cleveland itself after dark; that is - do NOT stray outside of downtown unless you go to the suburbs. Most of the suburbs to the south, west, southwest and southeast are fine.

Cleveland may be on some national list, but its not as bad as everyone seems to think.
