Where do I find 1913-1917 Cleveland Ohio telephone directories? |
Travel Info Where do I find 1913-1917 Cleveland Ohio telephone directories? Travel Tips If you are looking for an address you may just want to look at county records. I am not sure if they are in city hall or somewhere else. Not everyone had a phone back then, so the book might not have all adresses and they may not even have a book from back then. Others Call the main library, they just might be able to help. Also, the local office of AT&T might have that information as they more or less took over the reigns when Ma Bell was broken up. I'm assuming you're trying to find info about a specific person. In addition to the public library, see if there are any genealogical libraries in the area. Also check with the local historical society or museum. In addition to phone books, there were "city directories" that listed people's name, address and occupation. Happy hunting! Your best bet would be the County Archives on Franklin.. (2300? Franklin Avenue). They probably have a website, and you can call or email them. Good luck! I don't think a public library would have that info, and I don't think city or county archives would be very accomodating or helpful. You'll probably have to visit the Western Reserve Historical Society in University Circle. They have a staffed library and archives. I've never used the library before, but I'm familar with the historical society. It is really a first class institution and I'm sure they would be very helpful. They have one of the largest geneological libraries in the country. http://www.wrhs.org/ |
