Cheap vacations from Cleveland?

Travel Info
We live near Cleveland, Ohio and want to travel. We can't take a lot of time away from work so would only be able to plan small, weekend trips. Anyone have suggestions of nearby places of interests to visit (other states?) that aren't too expensive?

Travel Tips
Go to Vegas, you can get cheap tickets on line.

Try; the Wisconsin Dells, just north of Madison Wisconsin

About a 7 hour drive however, but lots of fun things to do (Waterparks galore!!!!)
When we were first married in Akron, we did weekend trips to:

Pymnatuning SP and saw covered bridges in Astabula County.

Sandusky with trips to Kelly's Island, Put-in-Bay and Cedar Point.

Cooks Forest, Pennsylvania (just off I-80)

Marietta on the Ohio River and the glass factories in West Virginia,

Maumee SP on Lake Erie outside of Toledo,

Sauder Village in Archibold, west of Toledo

Hocking Hills, near Athens in south central Ohio

Chillicothe and the Hopewell Culture Nat'l Monument, Serpent Mound and Fort Hill

Coshocton's Roscoe Village, canal days and canal boat ride.

Dayton Aviation Trail with several museums, most notably the Air Force Museum with the largest collection of aircraft (military) in the world.

Youngstown's Mill Creek Park

Bellfontaine has a mix of places (caverns, homes) and things to do (mini-golf)
Try going to Michigan. Not that far of a drive from where you are.

Plan a weekend/long weekend to St. Joseph, Michigan. It's a small quiet town with a very nice giant beach. They also have great restraurants there, and shopping on the main strip. But if you are looking to party and drink then this is NOT the place to go.

Almost every weekend they have something else going on. From sidewalk chalk art (this stuff is really good), to a farmer's market, to a jazz concert.

Also be aware that if you do go to Wisconsin Dells (as the first person posted) it can get expensive. But if you get the right hotel with a water park attached then you are set for the water parks for you stay. Some hotel I would reccommend are Kalahari (African theme with real baby lions up front, by far my favorite hotel), The Wilderness, Great Wolf Lodge. These are just a couple hotels that are a must stay at when you go there. They can get pricey but are worth it. There are many other small cheaper hotels if you want to go that way also.

Go to Niagara Falls, its like a 3 hour drive and beautiful this time of year, and they have casinos (if you're into that sort of thing). I hear its cheaper if you go to Canada. Check out Hersey, PA.
