Closest to Akron...Interactive water fountain? |
Travel Info Where the water shots up from the ground, kids can run around through it....Im in Barberton/Akron....Or anythign similar to this or any other family fun things that is free to cheap. My kids are 4yrs and 2yrs old. THANK YOU Travel Tips I have two girls (5 and 3), so similar in ages. They love to go to the Akron Zoo, which does have a nice water area and fun butterfly maze in the far back. If you splurge and get a membership at the Cleveland Zoo (which is also fantastic), it will get you into the Akron Zoo for free (not sure if the Akron membership will get you into Cleveland or not) as well as the zoo in Erie, PA (which is small, but nice for little kids). It is a hike, but the Cleveland Botanical Gardens has a great children's garden with a fun fountain to get soaked in, a sand and water play area and some play houses. Make sure you bring extra clothes because the kids will be totally soaked and dirty. Another membership option is Inventure Place in Akron. Their stuff was OK for my girls - they liked the area where you could create your own things with paper, wood, etc - but the membership there will get you into the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland (a MAJOR favorite with my kids) and, even better, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh (worth the gas) and their Science Center, too (haven't got there yet because we always spend too much time at the Children's Museum's water play area). I would also check out the Metroparks/CVNRA in the NEOH area. On a hot day, my girls love to splash around the Chagrin River near where we live. We access it at the local Metropark area down the street. They can stomp in the water, sled down the current, check out the tadpoles, and pretend to be explorers. Best part - totally free. When they get a little older - 7ish - Nelson's Ledges over near Warren is very cool. Huge rocks with paths that go between them and drop-offs of over 20 feet on the upper paths. It is free to enter, but definately NOT for little ones that might take a wrong step. |
