I have a UK passport and want to visit ireland this week. Passport expires in 1 month, will it still be ok? |
Travel Info I have a UK passport and want to visit the republic of ireland this week. Passport expires in 1 month, will the fact it expires soon be a problem? I've heard some countries want 3 months left on your passport to enter them; but I've also heard that the UK has a special arragement with the Republic of Ireland, and indeed with EU countries. Doe anyone know? Travel Tips you do not need a passport to visit Ireland. Others You don't need a Passport for travel to Ireland being a EU citizen nor for any of the coutries which are at the Schengen space. There are some other countries where you can travel with your Passport even if it is expired such as Monaco or Andorra and some others. The UK and Ireland both did not sign the Schengen treaty, that allows EU citizens to travel freely between countries. If you want to know for sure, call the Irish embassy or consulate. Ireland and the UK have an arrangement where British subjects do not require a passport to visit Ireland, nor do Irish citizens require a passport to visit the UK. Some airlines (Ryanair is one) choose to verify passenger identities with a passport. Other airlines are happy with any government-issued ID (e.g. driver's licence). |
