Nondrinker in Ireland- how to decline a drink? |
Travel Info I don't drink at all, and I am wondering if I will be looked on as rude or unsocial if I decline the offer of a pint in a pub or of a glass of wine at my hotel/b and b. That is not being rude at all. If someone keeps pushing after you politely refuse, then they are the one that is being rude. "That is very kind of you, I'd love an apple juice, glass of soda, etc. if you don't mind." You accept the drink, and let them know what your preference is. Pick something of equal or lesser cost compared to what has been offered. It is not rude, because most people want to be hospitable, not get you drunk. |
