I will be moving Cork next year with my husband & son. Where are the good areas for a family to settle? |
Travel Info We both have cars so we are willing to stay up to 30 minutes drive from the city centre. Travel Tips I agree that Cobh is a great place, however, I'd add Kinsale as well. Others Douglas is nice, lived there for a year or so Depends really. If you want suberbs, try Ballincollig or Carrigoline. But i must warn you. Its not cheap! Even renting is pricey! I've been in Cork for 4 years now & its getting more & more expensive to live here. Also accomadation is very sparce since the invasion of Eastern Europe! Jobs are also very hard to come by! If you want any more info, you can MSN me on nikkharison@yahoo.ie We have lived in Glanmire in Cork, for 6 yrs and have settled very well, its about a 15 min drive to cork city. Midleton is also a lovely place to live, about a 25 min drive from Cork. Everyone has given good answers so far, and Cork is a lovely place. You could also look at Cobh - in 1912 this was known as Queenstown and was the last stop of the ill-fated Titanic. It's really pretty. I agree with a lot of the folks here. I am from Cork City where 15 years ago you could buy a council house for 30k that house is now worth 350k + . I have some friends in the business over there, if i can help point you in the right direction let me know. Suburbs for a bargain are best tho. i would say try and live in Douglas or Rochestown |
