Ireland has always been my dream vacation and even though i have not gotten there as of yet,im thinking? |
Travel Info of relocating there with my 2 small boys.any ideas on where to start looking for a rental house and a job?i am thinking about Dingle.also my family tells me im crazy cause they say i'll be the only black person there.how true is that.not that it would stop me. Travel Tips Race wouldn't be a problem but Dingle is in a gealtacht area. this means the schools in the area all teach through irish. your kids would need to speak good irish if they were entering school at a class from first class up or go to a school outside the area. you may be better finding a home slightly further from the area if schooling is a problem. Others Wow that's my dream vacation too. I want to go so bad..take me with you lol. It is a dangerous time to be moving out of the country and I am assuming your from the US. If you really want to that is totally up to you and good luck. Ireland is a really small island I was surprised. Being the only black person....im sure your not going to be the only one but I doubt there will be a lot. I mean it's Ireland lol. I wouldn't recommend just up and moving, although it is ur dream! With 2 small boys u need 2 sit down and talk 2 them bout the possibility and see how they feel bout it. Maybe u should listen 2 ur family, the boys would not have their grandma or grandpa (or any other family)! I would defiantly think a lot more bout it!!! No, you would not be the only black person there. Read on... It is Ireland's high standard of living, high wage economy and EU membership that attract many migrants from the newest of the European Union countries: Ireland has had a significant number of Romanian immigrants since the 1990s. In recent years, mainland Chinese have been migrating to Ireland in significant numbers. Nigerians, along with people from other African countries have accounted for a large proportion of the non-migrants to Ireland. It's a beautiful country. I'm sure I'd enjoy it there. Good luck to you! wikipedia In dingle, you will probably be about the only black person living there. but it does get alot of tourists. I suggest taking a fact finding holiday here before you actually commit to moving. If your coming from a big city, you'll probably find a place like dingle very rural (and possible quiet in the winter) but kerry is a lovely part of the country and people are very friendly. Galway is a great city too on the west coast (with quite a large black community now). Places i'd stay away from are limerick city, dublin and tralee in kerry. Ireland is changing all the time Dublin and Belfast are increasingly becoming more global and metropolitan. in dingle you probably wouldnt even be given a double look, anyway were too laid back to really care, you might get a few nosey parkers asking you questions about yourself but nothing too personal just "so whereabouts are ya from" type questions. there are plenty of black irish born and bred people anyway you wont be greeted as a two headed monster. |
