Travel Tips I would have to disagree with Susan, Manual Antonio is a beautiful place but it is also the largest tourist attraction in Costa Rica. There are tons of tourons and that also means that there are tons of people there wanting to rip you off. You might as well go to disney land and buy a funny hat. The vibe in this area is not good, far to many americans thinking they are super cool because they are away from home for the first time and want to vibe out other americans. Very strange environment, people party to techno music all night long on the beach. While this may sound cool at first, it wears on you fast. Tico boys just working over the American girls, it is not a pretty scene. I would suggest going to the caribean side, just stay away from Limon, head towards Bocas Del Toro Panama, excellent snorkling and wildlife. Also look into visiting Corcavado national park, national geographic called this the most biologically intense place on the planet. It is an amazing place. Highly recommended!!! Others I am from Seattle, but writing from Costa Rica where I have been since September. I think one of the best places to go is Quepos and Manual Antonio which is on the Pacific Coast, about 2 1/2 hours from San Jose. A great place to stay is the Mono Azul (Blue Monkey). Chip and Jennifer are from the U.S. and own the hotel. They have a fantastic staff and are located in an easy to access place between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. They treated us like gold when we were there. They have a great restaurant, bar, 3 pools, a library, Internet cafe, gift shop, and entertainment room.
